A Leisurely Stroll Through the Old Town (Home Care Services)
29/05/2026

To encourage older people to actively participate in community activities and foster emotional bonds between them and their families, the Hoi Wan Integrated Elderly Services Centre, under the Mothers’ Association, organised the ‘Joyful Senior Citizens: A New Tour of the Old City’ event on 29 May with funding from the Social Welfare Bureau. The centre arranged for its elderly service users and their families to visit Nam Van Lake, where they enjoyed a relaxing afternoon tea by the lakeside, spending a warm and pleasant afternoon together.
On the day of the event, participants strolled along the shores of Nam Van Lake, admiring the lake views and the surrounding recreational facilities. Many participants remarked that the event allowed them to experience the changes and vitality of the community, finding it both enjoyable and meaningful. Following the tour, participants gathered at a lakeside restaurant to enjoy afternoon tea together, strengthening their bonds amidst delicious food and laughter.
Through this event, the Centre hopes to encourage the elderly to step outside their familiar surroundings and experience the character of different communities in Macao, whilst strengthening family bonds and fostering a caring and inclusive social atmosphere. In the future, the Centre will continue to organise a wider variety of activities to encourage active participation among the elderly and enhance their quality of life.
