Through the simple process of making handmade soap, this activity promotes interaction and collaboration between older adults and their families. Participants learn soap-making techniques together, from selecting ingredients and blending the mixture to shaping the soap; every step requires communication and cooperation, thereby fostering emotional connection and building a closer supportive relationship. At the same time, through the process of accompanying and assisting their loved ones, family members gain a deeper understanding of the elderly participants’ needs and capabilities, enhancing their sensitivity and skills in daily care. This achieves the objective of ‘integrating care into interaction, and fostering growth through interaction’.
