To help young children learn about the traditional customs and meanings of different festivals, the Mother’s Covenant St John’s Nursery (New Port) organised a ‘New Year’s Gathering’ event. Teachers and children dressed in traditional Chinese attire, beating gongs and drums and performing a lion dance. Everyone exchanged New Year’s greetings and took part in setting off firecrackers, making tangyuan and stamping New Year couplets. The warm and lively atmosphere allowed the children to experience the traditional customs and festive spirit of the New Year.
